Beach Vibes
My all time favorite location is the beach! An afternoon walk on the sand is just what the doctor ordered! And who doesn't love the ocean waves and sunsets? From wide open views to intimate scenes of play, I enjoy expressing the warmth and joy only found by the sea!
Landscapes
My landscapes are often times painted outside on location and then completed in my studio. By beginning outside, I can see all of the nuances of color, light, and shadow. I can take the feeling I have within and better capture it on my canvas. Most of my paintings are from Georgia, South Carolina, and Florida, as these locations are easily accessible.
Florals and Still Life
Flowers are such a joy to paint. Not only are their colors vibrant, but they each seem to have a little personality! Some make us feel elegant, some are whimsical! They all move in different directions, but come together to make a cohesive presentation. They are with us in happy times and also provide comfort when things are hard. It is wonderful to paint them, knowing their beauty will not fade and that they can be enjoyed for years to come.
Animals
I enjoy living by a lake and have many wild animals to view each day. I particularly love birds, and have painted a few Herons. The geese are funny in the Spring, as they leave the lake and waddle around the yard. Sometimes they have a long line of babies following, which is precious. In addition, we have tons of deer that graze in our neighborhood each day. So we drive on alert, always looking out for them.
Pet Portraits
I love capturing the unique expressions of pets! I am a BIG dog lover, but also had 2 cats at one time and loved them dearly. I currently have a seven year old Australian Labradoodle named Chipper. He is always smiling, which is the main reason for his name, but we are also Braves fans! He is just the best, always with me.
The Figure
I love painting portraits and figures. I have enjoyed painting live models at Alpharetta Art Center and Norcross Studio and Galleries. I am so thankful for these opportunities to paint from life!
